Roberts grew up in Upstate New York and has been involved with lacrosse for thirty years, in the capacity of enthusiast, player, coach and advocate.
He attended the Berkshire School, Division I New England Propriety School, and not only lettered in both ice hockey and lacrosse for three years but also served as captain his senior year. Upon graduation Roberts matriculated to St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. At St. Lawrence Greg played lacrosse and in 1998 earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
